Katrina is a highly experienced and
respected strategic media adviser, who has provided advice to some
of the country’s key executives and organisations on some of the
most important public debates.
She has advised the most
senior levels of the Australian Defence Force, oil industry,
scientific community and the health sector, to name but a
few.
With a strong background in
electronic media, Katrina started her journalistic career in 1986
with ABC radio in Melbourne, where she held positions such as
senior news and current affairs reporter, chief of staff and chief
sub-editor.
In the late 1980s she was the
ABC’s National Financial Correspondent reporting for national news
as well as the AM and PM programmes.
In 1991, Katrina was chief
Victorian political correspondent during the last months of the
Kirner Government and the rise of the Kennett era.
After many years of radio,
Katrina joined ABC television as a presenter and reporter for The
Investigators.
After leaving the media to
pursue opportunities within public affairs, Katrina acted as a
media adviser and strategist for some of Victoria’s leading legal
and accounting firms, the Victorian Education Department, a
wide range of publicly-listed companies and was media adviser to
the Northern Aboriginal Legal Aid Service during the landmark
Stolen Generations litigation.
In 1998, Katrina returned to
the finance sector as National Public Affairs Manager for the
Financial Planning Association (FPA).
Katrina joined Media
Manoeuvres in 2000 and has been a valuable member of the Media
Manoeuvres training and issues/crisis management team. She has
trained many of Australia’s executives from the most senior levels
through to frontline personnel who need to face the media. She
covers all types of media encounters, but particularly the
pressured and reputational risk management interviews from
imminent or current issues/crises.
